Went steelhead fishing on the Salmon River in Idaho last weekend! Wow, what a great time. Nice to get away from the winter "cabin fever" and see God's beauty in the Salmon River drainage! Bighorn Sheep, Mountain Goats, Elk, Deer, and oh yeah, fish! My buddies and their sons had a great time. I think we landed 11 steelhead and had plenty others on for a good fight! My son Hunter hooked his first steelhead, but it won the battle.

Hey fellow forum folks! It's been awhile since I've last post, but the 2010 Archery season is fast approaching. My much anticipated annual routine is once again upon us! Preparations are now being made for, God willing, another fantastic season in the mountains of Idaho!

July 9th - Hiked in to my son's favorite spot to set up a tree cam over a water hole we found last season. (His favorite because we always have to stop on the way back at Rainey Creek Station for square ice cream!) Image There were a few elk track on the edges of the water, but also alot of moo cows in the area. Probably end up with more photos of Herfords instead of Wapiti!
Scored a bonus afternoon of fishing on the South Fork of the Snake River after we downed our ice cream! Can't beat that!Image

July 16th - My hunting partner and I hiked in the four mile round trip to one of our favorite elk wallows to set a digital cam. We'll check the pics in about 3-4 weeks! Can't wait to see the results at this spot! Usually get a great variety of bulls & bears! Drove to the spot I tagged my 300" trophy bull last season and mtn biked in to set yet another cam. As luck would have it, the most sign we found was at the meadow where I called in the two bulls the previous season! My excitement peaked! Will keep the OO readers posted on the status of our season!Image

Best wishes this upcoming season!
